MUTEMATH Concert at Aragon Ballroom

I liked having the opportunity to shoot MUTEMATH, who opened up for 30 Second To Mars at Aragon. Even though there was no photo pit for that show, shooting from the crowd wasn’t too bad for this electonic rock band, these guys’ more robust arena sound require no slam dancing.

It was interesting to see this band utilizes a keytar, do bands really even still do that?

Internet phenoms OK Go rocked a full house at Metro Chicago, where they played their first album release show years ago. They returned this week in support of their newly-released Of The Blue Color Of The Sky.
There was lots of confetti. More bands should utilize confetti. It’s fun!

30 Seconds To Mars Concert At Aragon Ballroom Jared Leto

Jared Leto and gang hit the stage at Aragon Ballroom to play an explosive show, encouraging fans to go as crazy as possible to have a great concert experience. Surprised I was to see Leto donning a new pink mohawk hairstyle. This, combined with the chemistry he and the band had with the audience, it’s clear he knows a thing or two about putting on a performance.

It’s always nice to be pleasantly surprised by an opening act you’ve never heard before, and Mayer Hawthorne and The County was an interesting band to open for Passion Pit’s show at Congress. These guys played a soulful set of throwback Motown songs, completely dressed to the part. So I took the opportunity to crack my knuckles, so to speak, to prepare for Passion Pit.

Passion Pit Congress Theater

“Thanks everyone, for making this our biggest show YET!”

If selling out Congress Theater wasn’t Passion Pit’s biggest show yet — not counting last year’s Lollapalooza — I’d like to know what was. It’s hard to guesstimate just how many tickets are needed to sell out one of the largest concert theater halls in Chicago.
