Flogging Molly @ House Of Blues Los Angeles
March 16, 2012
Nearly exactly one year since I shot Flogging Molly on tour in Chicago, I managed to shoot their set at House Of Blues on Sunset Strip for their 8th annual “Green 17″ tour. And I gotta say, Los Angeles House Of Blues may be one of my new all-time favorite venues. At least with it’s rustic, pub appeal, it seemed a very fitting venue for Flogging Molly’s brand of celtic punk. With fantastic lighting, to boot!
PHOTOGRAPHER’S NOTES: As I had mentioned, may very well be my new favorite venue. I was shooting very comfortably at 1600 ISO, could probably have even dropped it to 800 at times. There were plenty of angles to shoot from, albeit being very crowded. I should also mention that the 17-50 2.8 dominated for this performance. Although I used a 85 1.8 at times, the 17-50 was great at capturing the ensemble. There was a lot of microphone sharing, and with 7 musicians on the stage, it was easy to get several in one frame.
